Twins to Yanks: Give us Jesus Christ 4 Santana

Only the Prince of Peace may be able to bring Santana to the Yankees.

According to baseball officials who were aware of those talks, the Twins initially asked for pitcher Ian Kennedy, along with pitcher Phil Hughes and outfielder Melky Cabrera.

After being told Kennedy wasn't available if Hughes was part of the deal, the Twins apparently proposed expanding the trade into a 4-for-1 swap, with players they considered to be lesser prospects than Kennedy. But the Yankees quickly rejected that pitch, too.-ESPN.com

Kennedy is the Yanks' top pitching prospect after Joba and Hughes. Hughes was the top pitching prospect in baseball last year. Melky is an everyday starting centerfielder. Basically, if Kennedy and Hughes are anything close to what they should be, and Melky replaces Torii Hunter, the Twins would be making away with 2/5's of a starting rotation and a starting centerfielder while the Yanks pay 150 million dollars for a pitcher and gut their team.

But who do the Twins appear to be willing to accept from America's team?

"ESPN the Magazine's Buster Olney reported early Tuesday that the Twins asked the Red Sox for permission to review the medical records of pitcher Jon Lester, amid indications a Red Sox-Twins trade could go down sometime during the early-morning hours.

If the Twins were satisfied with Lester's medicals, it's believed they would accept a swap of him, Coco Crisp, shortstop prospect Jed Lowrie and either highly regarded pitching prospect Justin Masterson or another player. "

Lester is no Phil Hughes, Coco Crisp makes no sense for a rebuilding team, and while Lowrie and Masterson are top prospects in the Sox organization, neither of them were ranked in the top 50 MLB prospects for this year.

Nice try Twins. Go to hell.
